May 1 marked the 15th annual member garage sale held at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Year after year this is the Credit Union’s most popular free event, with hundreds of members wanting to participate in the sale and even more shoppers coming to bargain hunt.
This year, IU Credit Union employees graciously donated gently used items to be sold at charity booth within the Garage Sale. All proceeds from the sale of these items went to charity. Shoppers dropped their money into the charity container of their choice—The Salvation Army, Hoosier Hills Food Bank, or Habitat for Humanity. All-in-all the IUCU charity booth generated more than $590!
Once again, the Monroe County 4-H Poultry Club provided the food with proceeds going toward their cause, and Polka Dot the clown entertained kids and adults alike with face-painting.
If you’re interested in participating in next year’s sale, watch for an announcement in the In Your Interest newsletter in early spring. Booths are free-of-charge and the Credit Union provides the advertising, all you have to do is bring your sale items!
