Get ready for a summer filled with family-friendly entertainment as the Buskirk-Chumley Theater announces the Summer Family Film Fest! This series of four films is aimed at giving local families an affordable & accessible way for their children to attend their first movie at a theater. After a long period of inflation & other hindrances following the height of the pandemic, many children have not had the chance to enjoy the magic of the big screen in a cinema environment. With this series, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater aims to bring the ultimate family experience to Bloomington with four fantastic films lined up for your enjoyment.
In addition to the screenings, there will be fun activities for children attending the events, creating a complete experience for the whole family. The series kicks off with Kung Fu Panda on June 24th at 3:30 PM, followed by SING on July 8th at 10:30 AM (sensory-friendly) & 3:30 PM, How to Train Your Dragon on July 15th at 10:30 AM (sensory-friendly) & 3:30 PM, and Shrek on July 22nd at 3:30 PM. Each film promises to bring smiles, laughter, and an exciting adventure that will take you and your family on a journey you won't forget!
"We are thrilled to offer this series as a way to bring families together in our community," said Interim Executive Director Brad Schiesser. "With sensory-friendly screenings for Sing and How to Train Your Dragon and activities for children attending the events, we are committed to providing a comfortable and inclusive experience for all."
Tickets for the Summer Family Film Fest are $6 per film, with a quadruple-film pass available for $20. There is also a double-film sensory-friendly pass available for $10. Children aged 5 & under will still need a ticket but can attend the screenings for free! There's no reason to miss out on this fantastic opportunity. The theater is also working to collaborate with other Bloomington organizations to create an even more enriching experience for attendees.
"We want to make this summer one to remember for families in Bloomington," said Schiesser. "We invite everyone to come out and enjoy these fantastic films and activities together with us at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater!"
