Wire Transfers

A wire transfer is a way to send money electronically from one bank to another. IU Credit Union offers both domestic and international wire transfer services.

How to Receive a Wire Transfer:


Fee: $10*

Expected timing:

  • Wire deposits are processed Monday through Friday (excluding Federal holidays).
  • Funds received before 4:00 PM ET are posted to your account the same day.
  • Funds received after 4:00 PM ET will be posted the next business day.

What you will need:

In order to receive a domestic or international wire transfer, provide the following information to the sending financial institution:

  • Your name as it appears on your IU Credit Union account
  • The account number where the funds should go
  • IU Credit Union's Routing/ABA Number: 274972744
  • IU Credit Union's address: PO Box 368 Bloomington, IN 47402-0368

For international transfers, make sure the sending financial institution uses their U.S. corresponding bank to send the money to your account, since IU Credit Union isn’t part of the SWIFT network and can only receive funds in U.S. dollars.

How to Send a Wire Transfer:

International (Fee: $50)

  • Visit any branch.
  • Send a secure email through Online or Mobile Banking.

What you will need:

In order to send a domestic or international wire transfer, you will need:

  • Recipient’s Full Name
  • Recipient’s Full Address
  • Recipient’s Bank Name and/or Correspondent Bank
  • Recipient’s Bank Address
  • Recipient’s Bank Account Number (Domestic) or IBAN (International)
  • ABA Routing Number (Domestic) or SWIFT/BIC Code (International)
  • Amount
  • Currency (International)
  • Specific Purpose of Transfer
  • Additional information may be required based on wire amount or reason

We recommend that you contact the receiving financial institution to verify their incoming wire instructions to ensure that you provide everything they require.

For wire requests not submitted at a branch location, we will contact you by phone to verify your identity through a series of security questions.

Daily Cutoff:

  • Outgoing wire requests received and approved before 3:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday, will be processed the same day.
  • Requests submitted and approved after 3:30 PM ET will be processed the next business day.

If a request is not submitted at a branch, we will contact you by phone to verify your identity through a series of security questions.
